Who is Allies in Energy?
How did Allies in Energy begin? How is it related to the Houston Energy and Climate Week?
Allies in Energy is a nonprofit (501 c3) community of business leaders, investors, and philanthropists working in partnership to increase energy and climate literacy education and investments for an equitable transition. We believe education is freedom. Education empowers communities with a framework to be innovative, productive, and affect social change. To achieve a lower-carbon future, we focus our investments in energy education and climate literacy with united action.
Allies in Energy is the organizing host of Houston Energy and Climate Week. All proceeds collected will benefit our programming and mission. To ensure this week's growth continues, AIE is raising $1.5M to fund the organization's future and annual events. To donate, please click here.
Allies in Energy was an original formed after a group of 100 executives and leaders across the globe went on a mission trip to New York to raise awareness for energy (and) climate. The team rang the bell on the NYSE and organized a team to run the TCS New York City Marathon and raised $15,000 to increase the profile of the energy industry and how it benefits society to work together towards a lower carbon future.
The inaugural Board of Directors and the organization's founder, Katie Mehnert recognized the importance of hosting Houston Energy and Climate Week under the umbrella of a non for profit organization, so the organization was formalized in 2023.
