Houston Energy & Climate Week

A Timely Gathering: Houston Energy & Climate Week

Written by Houston Energy & Climate Week | Jul 9, 2024 7:44:37 PM

The past few days have undoubtedly been trying. Hurricane Beryl was once a Category 5 storm as it trekked across the islands and into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico, hitting Texas as a Category 1.

Over 2 million electric customers across Texas were without power following Beryl, and people are flocking to areas with power to fill up, charge, and do anything they can to withstand the now 90-degree and rising temperatures.

We cannot think of a better time to bring people together to unify around energy and climate.

We've got a theme for this year: We do hard things. We think this is a fitting way to capture the essence of this week and all that our great city and region is doing for the energy transition.

We have also published our Unity Commitment, which sets this week apart from others. The changing climate is our battleground, not each other.

Please read it, sign it, and then share it.

Stay safe, and thoughts and prayers to get the power back on! - Juliana & Katie
